- shewelch - 02-14-2006 We have Valetine's reservations at Carver's Creek. I'd rather pick a wine while eating my chocolates and enjoying my flowers than get back to work from lunch... http://www.carverscreek.com/Winelist.htm I was thinking about the Clos du Bois Cab- what do you recommend? - Innkeeper - 02-14-2006 Sounds like a good pick to me, and when it is incidental, don't mind have any good red wine with chocolate. When it is on purpose, would go for a sticky. - shewelch - 02-14-2006 Thanks! Sticky? Can't say I follow you... do you mean full-bodied, sticks to the glass? - Innkeeper - 02-14-2006 I mean a sweet desset wine such a Port, Banyuls, Maury, etc. These are all red stickies that marry wonderfully with chocolate. - shewelch - 02-14-2006 Oh thanks-gotcha! I like the decadent chocolates with a bold red... unless I get the bitter dark chocolate, then I would definitely go sticky! - brappy - 02-15-2006 If I remember right, Carver's Creek is a corporate restaurant. The first time I noticed them was in the mid '90's in Charlotte. Never went there to eat, so can't comment on the food. But you didn't ask for that. I only brought this up because of all the spelling errors on the menu. To answer the question, even though late, nothing really sticks out, but a few are of interest: Sonoma-Cutrer, Russian River Merryvale, Napa Joseph Phelps, Napa Burgess Cellars, Napa Zinfandel - Rancho Zabaco, Sonoma Anyway, I do like the idea of having so many choices by the glass. Just wish the choices were a little better. - shewelch - 02-15-2006 We were pleased with the 2002 Clos du Bois Cab with our prime rib. We will probably not go back on Valentine's Day since we had rushed service. I was surprised at the lackluster wine list myself... thanks guys! - wondersofwine - 02-15-2006 Another contributor from North Carolina. Nice! |
