Does anyone know of a wine that has a noticeable vanilla flavour to it? Nothing too strong, but at least strong enough to notice the vanilla.

Thanks!

Welcome to the board. Many California Chardonnays have some vanilla flavor. I thought the 2003 Clos Du Bois Calcaire Chardonnay had a subtle touch of vanilla. You might try that one.

Incidentally, the vanilla (and buttery) flavors come from the barrels the wine is fermented and/or aged in.

As mentioned, almost all CA Chardonnay has some oak in it one way or another. I think the most pronouced vanilla comes from those that have been aged in older oak. Otherwise you get the "toasty oak" flavor which is more pronounced. For old barrel aged Chard you need to look at the $20 price point or more. Ask your retailer for recommendations for wines of this description.
