which year, since say, 95 is generally regarded as the best. I imagine it's hard to say, but just in general. I heard somewhere that 96 was a GREAT year. Is this true?

Hi Bahadue and welcome to the board. As far as Calif wines, 97 may be the greatest vintage ever. As drew said when you're talking vintages, the region needs to be identified to give a definative answer. WW

'96 was great for some areas, I believe, like Bordeaux.
