- Deri - 09-18-2001 What grapes are used in: Red Burgundy, White Burgundy, Red Bordeaux, and Red Rhone Valley? Also what is Grappa? What is Port? What is Cognac? - Bucko - 09-18-2001 Sounds like another school assignment...... - zenda2 - 09-19-2001 Deri, Looks like you've got the answer to half your question on your other thread. What is grappa? A brandy distilled from pomace (the seeds & skins left after the grapes are pressed) What is port? A sweet fortified wine from portugal. What is cognac? A (grape) brandy distilled in certain regions in France. Other great French brandies include armagnac (from Gascony) and calvados (from Normady, made from apples). - winoweenie - 09-19-2001 Hi Deri and welcome to the board.
