can anyone tell me about this wine....it is a 1983 Grand vin de Chateau Latour, premier grand cru classse. My spouse was cleaning out the basement in our rental.

Hi Gailie B and welcome to the board. Someone made a big Boo-Boo. This is one of the 5 First Growths of France and ,IMHO, one of the greatest vineyards in the world. Now the somewhat bad news. 1983 was a good but not great year. Latour is one of the stars of the vintage. My advice.....Pick some special occassion, broil some steaks, light some candles, put on some Mel Torme and open that sucker up! You should have a marvelous experience. WW ( The wine is selling retail for from 169 to 199, but if you'll go back on the collectibles post you'll find the market for single bottles is nil)
