i was told that swirlling a glass of red wine in different directions causes the aroma to change. is this true?

Hi Keepie, and welcome to the wine board. Only if you exercise a different degree of vigor; and then, depending on the wine, maybe.

Or if the wind shifts and starts comin' from the stockyards. Seriously, liquid has no sense of direction.Sounds like one of your buddies wanted to show his/her superior wine knowledge. And welcome to the board. winoweenie

But shouldn't you swirl southern hemisphere wines in the opposite direction?

- chittychattykathy - 03-28-2001

Hmmm...
But then wouldn't you need a different glass as well?

Ain't this a repeat of a previous posting?

Of course, I could be bass ackwards on this one! OH now I remember. The thread I was thinking about had to do with swirling the glass with either the right hand or the left.

But would that not be the same as swirling from the right or the left. Am I confused?
