having grilled chicken kebob with yogurt and various sides (hummus, tabouli, etc.)
i have chardonnay, merlot, and cabernet in the house. which should i open?

Pretty much in the order that you listed them. If the chardonnay is light and/or insipid go with the merlot.

Not knowing which they are (producers) makes me unsure about the three you have in the house, but they generally are not the wines I would think of with the foods you list.

I like the beer answer, but I think a semi-dry Riesling would work too, and maybe a spicy Mourvedre.

thanks. the chardonnays are penfolds thomas hyland and rosemount estate both 2001

I was also thinking off-dry Riesling; or Alsace Pinot Gris, maybe.
