Hi, there! I'm a newbie, and am so glad that I found this message board! Now I know where to go with questions!
I usually go to tastings around town, sponsored by local stores and things like that. A friend of mine has invited me to go to a PRP wine event at a hotel. We'll be getting to taste 15 wines (I think), but they're all from PRP. I tried to google the company, but couldn't find much. Does anyone know about their wines? Are they any good?
Thanks! I'd like to know before I pay to go to the event!

Are they like the Traveling Vineyard, except that we pay for the tasting? Will they recruit me to sell?
Thanks for the link back to a previous post. Is PRP part of Montesquieu? And is it another home-party MLM (multi-level marketing) thing? Now not even the grapes are safe from MLMs!

PRP is not a multi-marketing level wine company. You can only work for the company if they are hiring, you go through an interview and are offered a job! (The Traveling Vineyard recruits anyone interested in selling wine.) PRP is an interational wine company that not only does wine tasings in ones home but also caters to corporations for gift-giving, private labeleling and wine tastings as well as PRP works closely with a lot of local charities. check them out at www.prpwine.com. The wine consultants are profesional and knowledgeable and the wines are fantastic!

This is probably the old Pieroth group. They were a competitor of Jakob Gerhardt, and made most of their bucks from in house wine parties where they pressure you to get full cases of any of the wines you liked. Looks like they're trying to reinvent themselves. Saw on their web site that they're the top company in the field of direct to you wine sales. I wonder what Geerlings and Wade would think of that claim.

Methinks KC is right about this being Pieroth. The German section on their Website has a "Pieroth Gold" available.

They've been around for a long time.... 30 years that I know of, since I first encountered them in the late '70s. Had their salesman out for an in-home wine-tasting and bought a case of their very good '76 Rheingau Spatlese in '77 or '78; received one or two later bottlings but they were from Eastern Europe. Never ordered anything from them again, preferring instead to visit local retailers.
