Good Afternoon:

I am in need of assistance in choosing a red and a white wine for a symposium for a Christmas Gala. Please advise on which wines would be a good selection.

Thank you for saving me.

VP

Hi VP and welcome to the board. Is this symposium having food, snacks or just booze? Let us know, you'll get many fine suggestions. WW

Hello and thanks for the reply. We would be having a variety of cheeses with crackers. Something easy while milling around before the formal dinner.

Thanks again!

VP, don't know what your budget is but here's a few smooth, easy drinking reds at or under $10 per bottle.

Castle Rock Cabernet Sauvignon, Calif
Castle Rock Merlot, Calif
Castle Rock Pinot Noir(Russian River Valley), Calif
Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon, S. Africa
Milton Park Shiraz, Australia
Bonny Doon Big House Red, Calif
Laurel Glen "Reds", Calif

All are good values, should be easily available and easy drinking.

For white wines:
German Riesling Spatlese (perhaps from Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Urziger Wurzgarten or
Rudesheim).
a California Viognier
an Oregon Pinot Blanc
a Gewurztraminer from Alsace (Trimbach for example)
a Vouvray from France
