I would like to get some feedback before I buy a few bottles of this wine. 1998 Private Reserve Napa Valley Chardonnay

Would this make a nice dinner wine?

Thanks,

Dave

If dinner is butter slathered chicken.

Please say again?

You are talking to a wine goof.

Big chardonnay's have a limited number of food pairings. Buttery roast chicken is one of the few things that come to mind. If you let us know what dinner is going to consist of, we can recommend an appropriate wine.

Hi CHL and welcome to the board. Whose Private Reserve Chardonnay is it? Somewhere, on the lable, there's a name of the winery. WW

Yes hello,

It is a beringer 1998 Private Reserve Napa Valley Chardonnay.

I was planning a baked chicken, sweet carrots and thats as far as I have gotten.

That's fine, but use lots of butter with chicken, or the wine will overwhelm you.

What might be better?

A nice Maconnaise, such as Saint Veran, if you are cooking light. The Maconnaise are chardonnys from the southern part of Burgundy.
