Sharin, the scope of your need is so vast it would be fruitless for anyone to answer your limited question. If you have a specific question, then ask it, but be cautioned: this group is not prone to doing others' homework.

Foodie, I actually have done my homework, I just figured that I could get some options about what people thought of the wines from Italy, and what type they would recommend, and which types were the most mainstream and least mainstream. But thanks for for useless advice anyway. If anyone has any comments please respond. Thanks

Lets keep this friendly folks.
Anyways, I like chianti. There are lots of types and grades and it seems to be one of the more mainstream italian wines, also one of the more traditional.

I am forever surprised at how people take offense at a direct response. The fact is, Sharin, the subject of Italian wine is as vast as the subject of wine in general. All you will get as an answer to a vague question is the type Barnesey gave: a personal opinion.
Have you any specific questions that can be answered with specific facts? There are many people on this board who can rise to that occasion.

Sharon, we are the largest retailers of Italian wines in the country and I learn new stuff every single day! The basic answer to any question involving Italy is "Piu Vino!" (or "more wine") as Italy has the most wineries, the most varietals, the largest production, the most labels, the best wines, the worst wines and everything in between. As foodie said, we would love to answer your question but what is it????
