Newbie here... :-)Can someone recommend how I go about learning about wine? how does the glass I use make a difference? thanks for your response!

Welcome to the board.

Start by reading all the threads in this board. For example, to learn about glasses and the difference they can make in the enjoyment of wine, go down to the Paraphernalia thread near the bottom and use the search function to look for discussions concerning glasses. Also, read books on wine..... several are mentioned throughout. Subscribe to trade magazines, such as Decanter, Wine and Spirits, Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator.

Wine is a very broad subject, one that requires a lifetime of study, research and experimentation to fully appreciate.

I'd start by picking up a copy of one of the idiot's guide to wine or dummie's guide to wine books and go from. oh, and don't forget to pick up a bottle of wine

Besides beginner books, like "Fear of Wine" or "Wine for Dummies," you may want to check your local university/community college to see if they offer a class. The best way to learn about wine is to drinks lots of different wines. A good class will give you an opportunity to do that, as well as learn about the wines those wines. An intro to class wine should cover what type of glass to use, too.

Folks --- please DO NOT post any advertising of any sort, including your product web sites, outside of the Advertising/Promotion folder.

We appreciate your cooperation. Thanks much.

Delete these 2 blatant ad promos or move them KC. WW

- winophite - 05-10-2007

Here, here on the delete the promos ... however, I wish someone would pass through IN and pick up some of this Oliver stuff I'm drinking and post a note. I know IN doesn't want to let others in, I guess they don't want to let ours out either. I'm really enjoying the reds and would love anothers opinion. Severral area wineries produce a "chambourcin" and it seems pretty good for me too, (is it common elsewhere?). WP

All set, WW.

Thanks for your support (who said that?).
