I am a newby and I really like the sweet red communion wine. I think it is a Mondavi or something, I just don't know the type. It seems to have a little kick even after being diluted with "Holy" water. I do like the taste.

Do you know what htey typically use?

Hi Tog, and welcome to the Wine Board. Sacramental wine used to be tightly regulated, especially when the Christian Brothers were in full stride. Nowadays, in most places anything goes (so long as it is grape wine with alcohol), so there is no definitive answer we can give you. In our church the pastor insists that we mix red and white wine half and half. This caused home winemakers that live right across the street from the church to stop donating it.

Why don't you just ask them at your church?

I want to go to your parish thats serving mondavi wine. I somehow doubt it just for economic reasons. Who knows, they probally get it in bulk.
