I've seen decanters of various shapes. I have seen son people handeling them by the base. Is it correct? Or should be handled by the neck while serving, to avoid hands warming the wine?

I've seen people handle decanters from the base......or maybe attempt to handle from the base. I don't see why. Decanters are off balance as it is. It only makes sense to handle from the neck.

Is there a "Right" way to hold it? Maybe. I haven't heard of one.....ever. But that doesn't mean much. I use a decanter as a function, not as a ceremony. Therefore, I handle a decanter the most comfortable and most functional way......by the neck. There is one exception, but very seldom is it necessary.
