Does anyone have advice for giving wine as a New Years gift? I'm really looking for something that will impress my wine enthusiast friend. She's an Australian native who now lives in the Bay Area ...talk about a tough person to buy for!

Thanks for your help.

Hi LaJollaBlue, and welcome to the Wine Board. Why not impress the person with a nice California sparkler. I would recommend a Roederer of California Blanc de Noir.

Hi LJB and add my welcome to the board. Add my recs to the sparkler but would think maybe a nice bubbly from France would be more impressive for the same money. Had a marvelous Perrier Jouet Brut for our Xmas morn drink that was delicious. WW

Watched a table of four go through five bottles of PJ in just over two hours one night last week. They were still upright when we left the restaurant.
