I have been invited to an open house. I know they like white wine - not too pricey but not cheap. What should I get for them?

It would help to know if they like sweet wines (residual sugar after vinification) or dry wines (no significant residual sugar) or what variety of grape (Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Viognier, etc.) A fairly safe bet might be St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc, a California wine that goes nicely with green vegetables, salads with a vinaigrette dressing and simple fish preparations with flounder, halibut, grouper, etc. It should cost less than $20.

Where do you live? Do you have access to Costco or a good wine shop?
