Would anyone know about Romanian wines, esp. a wine by the name of "Contnari"? I came across this wine a few years ago after it showed up at a local government-run liquor commission. Apparently there had been several cases left over from a provincial wine tasting in which an exporter had been trying to market this wine. It was very cheap (8$ Can.). It was sweet but possessed a richness for which I have yet to develope the proper decriptive vocabulary. The price suggested a poor quality wine, however, I was told by member of a local wine tasting group that this particular wine was actually far superior to what the price would indicate. A post-communist country trying to market a wine dominated by more established wineries, I think he said, had no doubt contributed to the low price.

Does this ring a bell out there?
