Hi all!

Short-term lurker, first time poster here. I found the board while link-chasing from the site of Bob Campbell, a Master of Wine in New Zealand. (Yep, I'm a Kiwi, too.) I've only been into wines for about 4 or 5 years now, after a couple of trips to Australia... the Barossa Valley is now one of my favourite spots on earth.

Glad to see so many NZ Sav Blanc lovers here... I'm one too. I tend to be a white drinker, although I'm slowly finding some reds that are to my taste. (Mainly lighter Pinot Noirs and Pinotages.)

However, as far as tasting goes, I'm pretty much Newbie Ned. Don't expect me to wax lyrical about lychees or red capsicum flavours for a while yet... my tasting notebook contains such notable quotes as "Neeh", "I'd drink that..." and "too wussy". Plus, my odd work hours mean I hardly ever drink wine with meals, or any earlier than midnight. (Ever tried matching a wine to porridge with brown sugar at 1am?)

Just polished off the last of a bottle of Kerr Farms 2001 Pinotage... nice, light easy-drinker, with an intersting smoky flavour. The attached tasing notes for it indicate it would develop over the next three years... not unless it does so in my stomach, huh? (I don't tend to buy "keepers"... my father-in-law has a basement cellar, but I'm a "drink-it-now-you-might-get-hit-by-a-bus-tomorrow" kind of guy.)

Hopefully I'll get to my favourite vineyard this week... Westbrook Wines in Keumeu. I'm hanging out for another bottle of their incredible Blue Ridge Chardonnay. (The best I've tried in years...)

Anyhow, I'll sign off now... it's 3AM and I'm starting starting to to see see double double.
