I say just fill it with gin and tonic....

I called my daily utensil a Leverpull, but it's actually a Screwpull table model. Christmas gift a couple of years ago from the B3SIL (big-busted baby sister-in-law).

Foodie, if your boss had had any sense, he would've pulled up a seat and joined you for the feast. But maybe he was surprised you were drinking Marques de Caceres instead of Marques de Murrieta....

WWL, others on this board will be able to come up with a good wine that could visibly pass for water. I sure wouldn't mind, though, if it tasted like an off-dry Riesling or an unoaked Chard or a Sancerre. But at this time of year, maybe good ol' eggnog in the cooler would work just fine!

White Wine Lover - you are right on the mark. I buy wines for a chain of restaurants so yes I do drink during the day. Have to spit though because I would get nothing done. I'm also an educator for the company and sommelier. I also do sales and marketing (setting up promotions/staff incentives, etc..).

It's not really what I want to do, but in this economy I'm glad I have a job!

I have fallen in love with a gift needle-and-CO2 device that I was given. Never a crumb of cork, and a little noise and fun in the ritual.

It won't work on balsamic vinegar or composite corks though. They are in too tight.

Simple screwpull for me. I admire the smooth efficency of the thing. When enjoying wine at my fiancee's house I use her double lever auger gizmo. It works well enough but I feel like I'm taking a pipe wrench to the bottle.

Over the years we've accumulated a large number of openers. We have a Screwpull, a Leverpull, a Rabbit, a few Ah-So's, several waiter's corkscrews, one of those wing jobs and an array of the disposable little plastic and screw jobs. I always carry a brushed stainless steel waiter's my son gave my a few years ago. When we travel we carry that, along with the Screwpull and an Ah-So, so we'll be ready for any cork situation.

Pretty much always use a waiter's friend, myself. Always seems to work, except for the one that kept chipping glass off the rim of the bottle! Chucked that one.

a waiter's friend or -don't laugh- a Tupperware model which works very well also.
