- Lynette1 - 03-31-2000 Does anyone out there know if there are any wines specifically made from the pomegranate fruit? Do you know of any blends? - Innkeeper - 04-06-2000 Looks like we're lacking in Pomegranate expertise around here. Sorry Lynette. - Thomas - 04-06-2000 Don't know of any modern-day production, but fermented pomegranate is as old a drink as fermented grape. On that score, I do not recommend the word "wine" to describe other fermented drinks. The reason: "wine" is derived from the Phoenician word that specifically referred to the juice of fermented grapes. It is like caviar: a word that comes from Turkish to refer specifically to sturgeon roe and no other. - Lynette1 - 04-10-2000 Thanks to all that replied to this somewhat odd request for information but I'm not giving up just yet. Keep me in mind if you hear anything more. |
