My Doctor has reccommended that I drink a glass of wine with my evening meal. Could you please suggest some good dinner wines in red and white and which is better dry or not. Thank You, Maggie

Hi Magseyes, and welcome to the Wine Board. It depends what the doctor is trying to prevent. Red wine reportedly helps in regard to heart disease, and white wine reportedly helps with breat cancer, and possibly other kinds of cancer.

For reds easy starters are the Beaujolais family including the various Cru Beaujolais that a retailer can help you find, and also a whole slew of provincial Italian and Spanish reds that have just recently begun appearing in the U.S. Again, recommend consulting a reputable retailer.

For whites you have already indicated an interest in Troken (dry) wines. You might check out a variety of German Rieslings along the sweetness spectrum to determine which style or sweetness level you like. Eventually you will find that the different styles can match with different kinds of food.
