What does 'Vin de pays d'oc' and 'vigne rare' mean??

Vin de pay D'oc means its in the middle legal classification in the french system. Between tabel wine and below AOC wines. It usually means the quality is of a lesser degree, but not always. It can mean the wine is grown in an area where that grape type isn't the legally permited for the higher classification or the wine was made outside the legal geographic area. the Oc region, in this wine's case, is the southern part of france around the Med Sea. I haven't had this wine, but B&G are lower end wines that buy their wines or grapes from other growers and bottle them under their own name. Quality VDP wines are growing in quantity and are well worth the effort to find because of their price to quality ratio.
