My husband and I decided to make wine and cheese baskets for our neighbors this Christmas. We have no idea what type of wine, if any, they drink and what type of cheese would go with the wine that we choose. Any ideas? Any thoughts would be helpful. Clueless

If you are looking for something inexpensive...
A small wheel of brie and a bottle of:
1998 Joseph Drouhin Pinot Noir Laforet
or
1998 or 1999 Georges Duboeuf Moulin-a-Vent
or
1999 Georges Duboeuf Jean Descombes Morgon

All the bottles are around 10-12 bucks and match well with brie. And most of all, they are very easy to find. Also, keep the brie refridgerated until you give it to them.

The other folks here will give you lots of other ideas.

If any of your neighbors are on a low-fat diet, suggest you substitute Alpine Lace feta cheese for the brie. And in general, any of Georges Duboeuf's cru Beaujolais will work fine, such as his Flower Labels of Morgon, Fleurie, Moulin-A-Vent, Chenas, Regnie, Chiroubles, etc. There's a bunch of 'em, but those are the most widely available.
