I'm new to the Board, and I'm a red wine guy at heart. I've got a date with a wonderful woman and we're going for sushi. I asked her drinking preference and she has requested a "dry white" wine. HELP! I'm not entirely concerned with price, but I'm not trying to wow her with money, but would prefer to wow her with a wine that she could buy in the future if she enjoys it.

Hi Dave, and welcome to the Wine Board. Go for a riesling from Alsace. Unless marked otherwise or are "late harvest" they will be bone dry and go wonderfully with Sushi. Even your state store should have the one by Trimbach. Serve very cold.

You can probably get Zardetto and possibley Mionetto or Ruggeri there, they are aromatic, just off dry sparklers and the girlies love them...

Few sushi restaurants would probably have the choices IK and Roberto mentioned. However, there are many restaurants in PA that let you bring your own wine. So, check with the restaurant, and if they let you bring in your own, get one of the recommendations and take it with you. If not, most sushi places now carry premium sakes that are served cold. There are a number of varieties and they're all nicely dry and taste wonderful.
