- lavendar - 08-14-2008 My boyfriend and I are new to drinking wine. We started about 2 weeks ago, when my boss gave us a bottle. We have tried a few since then, but have not fell in love with anything yet. Would someone please recommend a light white wine, that is a little sweet and/or fruity? Thank you. - TheEngineer - 08-14-2008 I'm sure that there will be other recommendations but I would suggest that you look for: (1) German Rieslings (2) Moscato d'asti (sparking wine) these two are both great starter wines and the riesling is actually much loved by more serious wine buffs. - Kcwhippet - 08-14-2008 You might also want to try a Vinho Verde from Portugal. They are very nice, light whites that have a tiny bit of sweetness and citrus notes. Also, they have a bit of spritz that's quite pleasant. - Georgie - 08-14-2008 Welcome to the board!
