Okay, here goes....is it possible to "brusie" wine? For example, if you are opening a bottle of wine and the cork "pops" out, have you brusied the wine? And if so, how does one tell whether it's been brusied or not? I'm not sure if this is just a myth, can someone please clarify?

I don't think your cork extraction technique can hurt the wine. The worst you could do would probably be to crumble the cork up and push it into the bottle, which would be annoying but wouldn't really effect the flavor. Lots of other things can damage wine, though, like high temperatures, too much aging, too much time spent exposed to air, etc.

No, it is not possible to "bruise" wine, by forcefully removing the cork or even by dropping the bottle.

This little bit of pretension has been around for years and (as shown by your query) is most often used in the context of popping the cork on champagne.
