Hi everyone, I have a question. I would like to know if the sweeter reds like say the jewish wines, namely Manishewitz that I am back into for some strange reason...well do these sweeter wines have a higher sugar level than say the cabernet sauvigs??? And if so, will the higher sugar content affect my blood glucose levels as I would not like to develop a blood sugar problem. Please advise, as I am now having 2 glasses of the manishewitz concord grape wine every day now. Thanks for your info in advance. This is very important to me. Kaz

Hi Kazual, and let me welcome you to the Board. Yes sweeter wines have more residual sugar in them than dry wines. However, it is not a lot of sugar. A really sweet table wine might go 3% RS. You notice it at .5%. Those percentages are by volume. There is much more sugar in Coke.

If you want a dry red that is both Kosher and very good, dry those by Baron Herzog. We have enjoyed many of their wines including their Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. They are both dry wines.

Yes kaz, sweet wines can wreak havoc on blood sugar, especially if you are diabetic or hypoglycemic. Most doctors recommend dry wines for that very reason.
