- archit - 01-03-2003 A cousin who knows that I like to try different wines recommended that I try a White Merlot. I've never heard of this and was wondering if anyone could give me an opinion and an idea of what it could be served with. - Drew - 01-03-2003 YUK....haven't had one worth drinking, IMHO. DREw - Kcwhippet - 01-03-2003 I heard someone (I think Forest Glen or Forestville) was making a white Merlot a few years ago, but it didn't meet with too much consumer appeal. It's really not much different than white Zinfandel, another blush (Jerry Mead's term) wine made from a red grape. So, if you like white Zinfandel, you might like the white Merlot. They both fall into the category called Kalifornia KoolAid. - Innkeeper - 01-03-2003 Hi Archit, and welcome to the Wine Board. Beringer makes one, and I've tried it. It is not a world beater, but better than than most White Zins I've tried. |
