I was wanting to invest in a $100 bottle of champagne, and was looking for recommendations for a bottle that I could find pretty easily...any suggestions?? Thanks for your time!!

For my taste, the best in that price range is Krug NV (and that is French and unrelated to Charles Krug in Napa Valley).

But when you say "invest," do you mean that you want to hold it in event that it increases in quality? Hope not, because even the finest Champagnes are far from the best wine "investments." The value of the finest Champagnes -- from the Krugs to Moet & Chandon "Dom Perignon," "Perrier-Jouet "Fleur de Champagne," and Roederer "Cristal" -- is definitely in their inimitable taste, not their collectability.

Another thing, if you mean to "invest" in Champagne, your storage had better be flawless (if you have to ask what "flawless" means, you don't have it <G> ). Champagne has the perception of being extremely fragile and intolerant of poor storage.

If however, you instead mean that you just wish to drop a bill on a nice bottle of bubbly, and are just asking for ideas, keep in mind that each house has its own style. This style is usually evident in its lower-priced versions. For example, Dom Perignon is going to resemble Moet&Chandon White Star to some extent; Cristal, Louis Roederer Premier; etc...

The easiest of the prestige houses to find is Dom Perignon. Cristal is also easy to find, but considerably more than $100. Vintage Salon would be an interesting change of pace in this price range. Jerry's recomendation of Krug is a popular one, which is why you'll be hard pressed to find it for under $100 <G>.
Just remember to spend keep in mind the caveat about storage, and spend the extra $ to buy it from a reputable shop; I've learned from bitter experience NOT to buy sparklers from Trader Joe's, (for example).

Hope this helped,
