after opening a bottle of wine, how long can I keep it if I dont drink it all in one sitting? I have seen some gadgets on keeping wine "fresh" is this a load of crap?

Hi astonv01 and welcome to the board. Bingo! You got it rite. Once a wine is open there is about a 24 hour window where the wine doesn't disintigrate. Go back on this thread 100 days and you can see the various methods used. I prefer the " Wine Preserve " product myself. WW

I don't know about Wine Preserve, but you can find Private Preserve at just about any decent wine shop. You can also find it at www.wineenthusiast.com. It's a can of inert gases that you spray into the bottle. The inert gases are heavier than air and blanket the surface of the wine to keep oxygen away.

In my very limited experience it really seems to depend on the specific wine. For some 24 hours is about it, others seem to hold up just fine for three or four days.
