I have been taste testing different wines but I have found quite a few wines that are too tart or strong, most of them red wines. It was suggested to me that I find a wine that is very sweet. I don't want something more like a syrup than a wine, but can anyone suggest a wine they think might appeal to me or a wine you have come to like?

I'm still quite the newbie and I'm sure others can answer better than I with regard to specific wines. However, I posed much the same question regarding sweet wines and it was suggested I try German rieslings. I did and they were exactly what I had been looking for....not syrypy sweet but also not like sucking on a lemon. Another suggestion was muscat canelli wines which I also tried and found very good as well.
Try the search feature for "sweet wines" and you'll get lots of suggestions.

Great advice texlady! Have either of you tried Chenin Blanc, also known as Vouvray? You'll find it to also be on the sweet side of the whites. I enjoy it with seafood.

If you don't want to get stuck with only white wines or white zinfandel-try some fruitier pinot noirs.
Some vintners make fruit wines that aren't too syrupy-you just have to seek them out.
