Fellow drinkers of the vine. I would like to know more info on whether or not a twist cap is better than a cork when it comes to keeping in "freshness" I'm just guessing a cap would just b/c it fits on better than a swollen cork. However, I'm a wine newbie and all input is very welcomed. Æ

Only a few quality wines come with a screwtop at this time. The problem with corks, and even artificial corks made with cork particles is that they can carry a disease that taints the wine. Some people detect this more readily than others. Screw tops eliminate this problem. The jury is still out on the effects of long term aging with a screw top, but you don't have to worry about that right now if you are just getting started with wine.
