I have heard from my sister in law that it is relaxing to drink a glass of wine. The only problem is I have no idea what type of wine I should try first. Any suggestions.

Hi Tkarstens and welcome to the Wine Board. It just happen to be the right time of year. Go out and get yourself a bottle of 2006 Beaujolais Nouveau. It was just released a couple of weeks ago. Drink it before May, and don't buy any more after February or so. It fades away fast. Chill it a little before drinking. After that look for an '05 Beaujolais Villages. It is somewhat heftier, but still nice for a newby, and lasts much longer.

is that a sweet wine?

It is fruity, but technically dry. See if the preceived sweetness from a fruity wine suits your palate. If it doen's suit you, try a Lambrusco which is technically sweet.
