I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what this is worth? It is a 1.5 liter bottle of Gaja Barbaresco that is an "83" vintage. If anyone can give me any info on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Gaja Barbaresco is eminently collectible, but unfortunately, 1983 was not a good year in the Piedmont. Mr. Parker rates the '83 vintage 75 out of a possible 100, but with caution, noting that wines from the Piedmont in '83 are "too old or irregular in quality" to make decisive claims about the vintage. However, the larger-format bottle is a plus in your favor, as bigger bottles tend to hold up better over time. But that vintage is problematic, as '82 and '85 were great years for Barolo and Barbaresco. For example, a bottle of '88 Gaja Barbaresco goes for almost $200 at K&L wine merchants. I'd say that your big bottle might possibly fetch the same, or maybe $250, but you will have a hard time finding a buyer, owing to the vintage.
