Since IK introduced me to the Temecula wineries a while back, I hadn't had a chance to return (pregnancy, baby, DH who doesn't like wine, etc.). Well, after DH got back from the Sand Box, he decided he actually could give wine a fair chance! So I introduced him to white zin (so far his favorite, of course), and away we go!

We went to a few wineries in Temecula this weekend, and it was such a great experience! (IK, thanks for introducing me to such a great sport!)

It's my opinion that their white wines are of better quality than their reds. (Is it just me?) I'm not a SW-lover, but I wasn't too fond of many of their reds.

I have to rave about a new winery (opened in June) called South Coast Winery. I appreciated & liked almost every wine I tasted there! I even joined their club (my first wine club!)! I especially appreciated that they offer two chardonnays: one aged in oak barrels, the other in stainless steel ("sans chene").

We also liked Falkner's 2001 Riesling, and Long Shadow Ranch's 2002 Sauvignon Blanc. (Sorry, no tasting notes. I'm still a rookie!)

So, if anyone is looking to get to Temecula, I would recommend a stop at these wineries. We had a great wine-tasting experience. Even my DH approved of the wines mentioned above!

BTW, for those of you who remember, this is sort of a follow-up from the vacation we took down the coast of CA back in Sept. Thanks for all your advice regarding places to stay in Monterey & Santa Barbara, as well as wineries to go to. We didn't get a chance to go to any wineries then (DH hadn't quite surrendered to the idea of wine-tasting), so DH promised me a trip to Temecula which is what we did this weekend.

P.S. I hope I put this thread in the right forum. It's been a while since I've checked in here!

Always a kick to see a convert. I'm sure the DH will probably become more involved that you LB. As I may have mentioned I quit staying in Carlsbad because the traffic into town in the morns has become unbearable. 30 to 45 minutes I could handle because of the amenities but the last 3 rimes I was there it took 1 to 1&1/2 hours. I now stay in motel circle at the Quality Resort. Exaactly 5 minutes to my first customer. How's the new addition? WW
