Hello. This is my first post and I am trying to learn a little about wines. I heard about "anniversary wines" which I believe peak on different anniversary years. I am getting married this summer, so I am interested in finding some wines which would peak in 2008, 2012, and 2017. I plan on giving them to my fiance as his wedding gift. I don't know how to go about finding these wines, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Bsmith and welcome to the board. We need a little more info to help you. What kind of wines does your love like...Red, or White. What price range are you looking for and what kind of storage do you have? These are all pertinant to answering your inquiry. WW

My fiance really likes red wines, but will drink both white and red. I am okay with spending up to $100/bottle if necessary, to get a good bottle. We are considering building a wine cellar, but currently, we do not have any special storage. We will definetly have something before the 5 year anniversary mark, but are there some other options for storage before then? Thanks a lot!

For '08 just get her a bottle of her favorite red that is ready to drink on release (over 90% of all red wine). It will hold for your first with no problem. For '12 get the current release of a nice Crozes Hermitage. They age nicely in five years. For '17 get an '07 Second or Third Growth Bordeaux just as Chateau Lagrange. They will not be released until '09, so you may have to wait to buy it.
