I came across a problem this weekend. I went to a very nice, classy bed and breakfast and restaurant and ordered a bottle of acacia pinot noir 1995, and it was wonderful. We were going to get another for our room, but we just had the last bottle. They offered me a 1991 estate bottled Chalone vineyards pinot noir. We never got around to opening this bottle so we took it home. I called the vineyard to see if the wine was still good and "they" said probably not. I called the place I stayed and they said they have 1989, 1990, and 1991 that are all still drinking beautifully, they insisted that this was a purchase they made only two years ago. The person I spoke to at the vineyard may not have known what she was talking about, the winekeeper seemed to though. The wine was $60, should I try it or take it back? Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

The wine should be, as the B&B said, drinking wonderfully.WW

I think you should try the wine and judge for yourself. If it's still drinking well I would call the winery back and tell them so.

Unfortunately, they hire novices because they can answer the phone--not the questions.
