- aburnsca - 02-26-2001 I prefer very heavy oak flavored chardonnays. Does anyone have yummy recommendations for my taste (preferably from California wineries)? [This message has been edited by aburnsca (edited 02-26-2001).] - Innkeeper - 02-26-2001 Hi Aburnsca, and welcome to the Wine Board. It would hard to find one any oakier than Forest Glen California Chardonnay, Barrel Fermented. It can be had for around $10, meaning that it has been oaked with bags of oak chips used like tea bags. The result tastes just like a woodpile. - chittychattykathy - 02-27-2001 Yum! - cpurvis - 02-27-2001 IK, you've touched one of my favorite Rant topics again: That one would not likely be able to go into a wine store, stand in front of a shelf of Calif. Chard, close eyes, reach, & come up with anything OTHER than a "woodpile". So, aburnsca, just go into the store & reach...you won't likely be disappointed. cp - Drew - 02-27-2001 Ab man...try Toasted Head Chardonnay, enough wood to burn in your fireplace while toasting your honey.
