Hi i'm doing a compare/contrast paper on Red and White wines. I got the differences part down, but not the similarities. THe differences part was pretty simple, but i cannot find any information on similarities between red and white wine. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me, or at least give me a url.

Hi Jolsen and welcome to the Wine Board. I suppose I could be a smart a--, and say they both contain alcohol and are made from grapes, but really can't think of any other similarities. Can't even say they both taste best when dry, because many whites (Riesling, Chenin Blanc, and others) sometimes taste best when off dry. Maybe someone else can help.

Try this. Blindfold yourself and see if you can tell the difference between red and white wines apart. If you can (and it is not as easy at it seems), what was it that made you think about one versus the other.
