Hi All,

I wanted to know if these wines were worth anything? Rheinpfalz Liebfraumilch(1977)Germany,Fratelli Lambrusco-Italy, Vino Rosso-Italy. Please let me know.

Thanks,

Not worth a thing, except maybe for their curiosity value. Not even drinkable.

Can someone let me know what wines have value????

Thanks.

Curiosity value just means that the wines are an oddity--something that you wouldn't normally see around anymore.

The problem is that you shouldn't see these around, since they are lightweight wines meant to be consumed right after they were released.

To have value for wine collectors, older wines not only have to be ageable(such as top Bordeaux, Sauternes, Barolos and the like) but they also must have been cellared correctly(kept at ideal temperature and humidity).

Cheyanne welcome to the board. The answers given are rite on. The wines have NO value. It's assumed that any old wine is valuable. That's not the case. Wine to age properly has to be cellared at 55-60* and with humidity in the 50-70% range. It also must be from a producer that vinified the wine with the proper balance of fruit, tannins, and acid so it will get better with aging. This type of product is represented by about 5-10% of the wines released. The rest are meant to be drunk immediately.WW

Hi Cheyanne,

There are some grapes that are meant to age and other that cannot.

Think of milk for example. Skim milk can last in your fridge for a long time, yet whole milk has a really short shelf life. Wine has the same problem.

As it was said these wines were made to drink right after production. Hope you're not too disappointed.

Thanks to all for your replies and no disappointment here.
