I was surprised to read in the Chardonnay board that many experts aren't real fans of Chardonnay.

While my wife and I drink reds primarily, we love our summer Chardonnay ( we live in Monterey County, CA). We especially love very buttery Chardonnays and drink Lockwood Chard as kind of our house white wine. We'll also splurge once in a while and pop some Talbott Chardonnay which we absolutely love.

Question: Are there other whites that provide that real buttery taste without as much oak?

Different strokes for different folks -- I find the Talbott to be the opposite of what I want in a wine. There is no wrong or right, just preferences.

The buttery flavors mainly come from malolactic fermentation and partially from oak. Some Sauvignon Blancs are Chardonnay wannabes, so you might find one of them to suit your palate.
