I am a complete novice to wines. But, I am looking for a red wine. The only cork bottle wine that I know the name of, that I am pretty sure that I like, is Rutherford Hill Merlot. Years ago I used to enjoy drinking Reunite Lambrusco. Can someone reccomend another cork bottle red wine, similar in taste to the Rutherford Hill, but that would be closer to the price range of the Lambrusco. Or if not, then maybe just some suggestions of any other wines for someone who likes these two selections. Thanks. dogman

Hi Dogman, and welcome to the Wine Board. Try the Merlots from Fetzer Valley Oaks and Bogle California. There are also various Vins de Pays Merlots from the South of France that are nice and inexpensive as well.

More and more wines are coming without corks for closures because some corks go bad. You will see various composite and other artificial corks as well as screwtops on quality table wines now and more in the future.
