I am new to the world of wine. I got sick off too much of it about 3 years ago & you all know how that goes...you simply NEVER want to drink what made you sick ever again! LOL

But recently a friend of mine told me that she had been drinking a glass of red wine with her dinner for a few months & it assisted in her health, weight loss, etc.

However, I find regular red wine to be too...geez...I do not even know the word for it. Bottom line, I do not like regular red or white wine. (Could part of it be that "regular" wine made me sick? )

So I decided to try a different kind of wine. I came across raspberry. I LOVED IT! So did my mother do never drinks, period! We have sweet-tooths & since the wine is sweeter, I am sure that had A LOT to do with it.

So now I am looking for more information on raspberry wine. I tried searching for it online & all it keeps showing me is where to buy it or how to make it. LOL

Can anyone offer me any tips, advice, information, or health information on raspberry wine? It will be greatly appreicated!

LOVE, Marissa

Hi Mari, and welcome to the Wine Board. The ingrediant in wine that helps you with health, and it's healthy heart primarily, is called resveratrol. It is found in red grapes when fermented, but not in raspberries fermented or otherwise. You might want to try an Italian Lambrusco. It is sweet. If you want to try a wine that is highest in resveratrol, try a Pinot Noir. Some of them are quite tasty.

Thanks for the info.

Is there ANY health stuff that goes along with raspberry wine?

And does the Italian Lambrusco you mentioned taste anything like it? I cringe at the taste of regular red wine. I think it is more on the "bitter" side in my mind. I like sweet stuff. LOL

So is there anything health wise or weight wise in terms of the raspberry?

I'm not aware of any health benefits from rasberry wine. The Lambrusco is remotely similar, in that both are sweet.

Or you can try looking out for something called Ice Wines. These are typically made from Riesling or Vidal Grapes and are SUPER SWEET. Typically so sweet that they are stand alone desserts...

White wines have some heath value viz a viz cancer. They do not contain resveratrol.

oops....I missed the point of the post.....in that case, please disregard...

I have tried cabernet sauvignon ice wine which is a red sweet wine....but.....nah...not really worth the cost and it ...only okay....
