- Cowboyin Blake - 04-28-2005 i see this on labels but can never find its meaning in books and what not. anyone be able to tell this novice the answer? Thanks! - hotwine - 04-28-2005 Literally, it means the "grand wine" or the "big wine". I read it as indicating the primary product of the winery and that it's in full compliance with the rules of the region. - Thomas - 04-29-2005 It means nothing of consequence. Grand vins= fine wine. The real information is found elsewhere on the label. - Kcwhippet - 04-30-2005 Grand Vin is the other end of the scale from Vin Ordinaire. At least that's what they told me when I was working there. - Thomas - 04-30-2005 KC, that's about the size of it. I don't believe it is part of the AOC regs--can say it, but it doesn't follow any specified winemaking...I could be wrong [This message has been edited by foodie (edited 04-30-2005).] |
