Several years ago I was at a wine tasting party where a representative from a company came in with different bottles of wine for us to sample and we were able to purchase the wine (same concept as Pampered Chef, Avon,etc..) Has anyone heard of this and if so point me in the right direction that I can host my own party. Thanks!

Welcome to the board.

A company called Pieroth did that sort of thing 20-30 years ago. Their German wines in the late 70's were quite nice, but they began pushing swill from Eastern Europe, at which point I lost interest. You could probably find them on the Web with a search for Pieroth.

Ask a local wine retailer if the shop hosts such parties or knows of a distributor that does. Alcohol laws differ so much from state-to-state that it may or may not be possible to host such a party in your home and have wines for sale that night.

WOW is correct. In fact, I don't know of any state that allows retail alcohol sales in someone's home. Mostly, a retail license is connected to a specific location and cannot be stretched without a separate permit.
