- Canuck - 06-13-2000

I am looking to buy a bottle of red wine from the year 1974. I am hoping someone has one in their cellar.

canuk,Bel-Air, 20-20 Wine warehouse in L.A.has 15 or 20 different 74`s Available. I only have 3 vineyards left from 74 and they`re not for sale. Be careful as I`ve found most 74`s and 78`s are going bye-bye.Their phone is 310-447-2020 and fax 310-475-2836. Winoweenie

Winoweenie's right about the '74 vintage in general. I only have about half a dozen bottles left, and I think it's safe to say they have already peaked, and need to be opened in the next couple of years.

As far as decent 74's actually available, you can contact Marin Wine Cellar for a free catalog of what they have in stock. They claim to have 100,000 wines from 1855 to 1989. Their phone # is 415-459-3823.

Thanks for the update, Winoweenie. I'll be contacting them soon for a new catalog as well. I loaned out the one I had from this past winter, and never got it back!

WC, Their 2000 book is a dandy. As usual with their pricing strategy ( When you combine Bob Goldbahar, Bel-Airs` guiding light with Marins` Harvey Buchbinder,) will wilt even the strongest of hearts. On the items that are marked futures, I`m sure they have projected the scarcity, demand, and Yuppy-buying power into the equation. Winoweenie
