Hello everyone,

As most vets on this board can probably tell, I am a newbie. Also, as my name suggests, I am a rookie when it comes to wines.

Not a big fan of wine myself, I am planning on buying a friend of mine a bottle of wine for her birthday present. She likes the sweet red type. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Rook, and welcome to the Wine Board. If we knew where you lived, might be able to help you with a local wine. Most wineries east of the Rockies make off dry red wines. Therefore, look for a Lambrusco other than Reunite. If you want to spend a little more and want a dessert wine or late evening sipper, try a Port.
