My fiance, Sam, and I have decided that we want to have one special wine for our wedding day, and that we can also enjoy on our anniversaries and special occasions..
The concern is finding one Sam and I both like. He has long professed he doesn't like wine, but we recently attended a wine festival that featured wineries from our home state. He actually had a good time and found some that he likes.
My problem is that Sam found he likes the more dry, red varieties and I prefer the sweeter, white varieties. I don't know a whole lot about wines, but would like to try to find one that we can enjoy together. Does anyone have any suggestions?

White Merlot....I recently tried it and would now swear by it for both tastes. I love it!

I would maybe try a pinot noir or a beaujolais villages. Maybe give each a shot then go from there. Also a semi-dry reisling might do the trick.

This suggestion is not so much for serving to your wedding guests (as the cost would be quite exaggerated) but maybe for the honeymoon and future anniversaries--a sweet wine best sipped on its own in moderate quantities (maybe from a half bottle) such as Sauternes from France (Sudiraut or Climens are possibilities)or a German Auslese such as one from Wehlener Sonnenuhr (Mosel) or the Rheingau region. Have the dry red wines for appropriate food pairings (steak, lamb, etc.) and have the sweet wine after dinner.
