I was wondering if having wine shipped this time of year is a bad idea due to the higher temps inside the UPS truck. I would hate to order something expensive and have the heat ruin it en route. Thanks in advance for any help.

We are just about out of the worst time. Just recieved two cases from CA that are drinking fine. Actually UPS ships things quite quite quickly, when they don't have to go through Maryland. Not to imply that heat is not a problem. Most of the time the problems occur on trips from Europe to the Left Coast, or from Down Under to anywhere up North. Transcontinental trips on a slow truck can also be trouble.

Hi Glass_a_day and welcome. You don't say where you're from nor where the wines will be shipped from. I don't hjave anything of value shipped inot Phoenix after May first till Ocr 1st for obvious reasons. WW

Sorry. I'm in MA and I was ordering from CA. I placed a small order as a test. Will see. Thanks for the help and the welcome.

A lot depends on who you ordered that wine from, too. It's illegal for wineries to ship wine to you in MA. A very small number of wineries have obtained special permits that allow them to ship in, but they're expensive and hard to get. Then there's the web wine stores. They don't ship from CA to MA. they will only sell you wine already carried by a retailer in MA. Effectively you're paying a premium to have them deliver some wine you could have picked up yourself. So, who did you order wine from?

There is an online wine shop that has a shipping loophole. They ship anywhere. The items they had where items my local shops did not, and they were cheaper than the stocking price at my store if it did indeed have them. Will let you know how it works out.

So don't keep the secret! Which online wine shop did you use?
