Im applying for jobs, on a new career path. One of the questions on the application was to name 4 varietals of grapes found in CA. I hardly know anything about wine. any help i could get would be greatly appreciated.

If you are applying for a job connected to wine in any way it would be better for your success to learn about wine rather than just learn four words connected to wine. For instance, a waiter who can recommend wine to pair with food can do quite well in tips; a waiter who hasn't a clue can kiss those tips goodbye.

So, what is the job you are applying for?

I don't want to be too harsh but the employer is trying to filter out those who "hardly know anything about wine" and, in my opinion, if this job is wine related at ALL that is not remotely a difficult enough question.

My opening interview question (a factual question) is:

Can you tell me the difference between Barbera and Barbaresco in twenty words or less?

My next question (an essay question) is:

What is the PURPOSE of wine?

Those illiminate most of the people who ALREADY work in the wine business!
